Can jewelry empower women?

I believe that jewelry can empower women, especially women who purchase jewelry for themselves. Apart from an engagement ring or a wedding band a woman wears her jewels for herself as an individual not for anyone else.

Jewelry reveals a woman’s taste and personality. What does your jewelry say about your personality? Is it bold, demure, simple, or a combination? Sometimes a woman’s taste changes because she has grown and learned more about herself and what she wants from life.

Wearing jewelry can make a woman feel beautiful, feminine, and self-assured, without emphasizing her age or stature.

The modern day woman may have many aspirations that she would like to achieve. Most importantly, she is a woman who wants to acquire something personal and beautiful that expresses her individuality. What I find most empowering is when women purchase jewelry from female entrepreneurs, as it is a wonderful way to support and empower other women.

Pinky Rings

I adore wearing my pinky ring because it feels comfortable on my left hand. Pinky rings are believed to be a symbol of self love. Some people maintain that wearing a pinky ring is associated with independence and creativity. I feel that wearing my pinky ring empowers me to be my authentic self without being associated with status.

A pinky ring does not require any specific design. It should however, fit the smallest finger on one’s hand. Having a pinky ring engraved will add personalization that can look sophisticated and smart. Try purchasing one and have it engraved as a gift for someone that you both care about and admire.

Jewelry Fashion Icons

I have always been enchanted by fashion icons who wore beautiful jewelry. Former First Lady Jackie Kennedy, actresses Elizabeth Taylor and Natalie Wood, all wore timeless statement pieces that dazzled the world over. These fabulous women exuded an elegant confidence and wore their jewelry with enthusiasm.

As first Lady, Jackie Kennedy was frequently seen wearing a pearl necklace. Her gorgeous pearls, both elegant and demure, complimented her dark hair exquisitely. Elizabeth Taylor, famous for her love of diamonds, wore her emerald and diamond drop earrings like a queen. Natalie Wood’s jewelry style was more eclectic and fresh. She looked as though she was having fun wearing her jewelry.

I have included images of these three notable women wearing their jewels, along with similar styles of jewelry that are currently being sold today. I hope that you can enjoy this jewelry style that is reminiscent of the nineteen sixties, a fashion decade that is a favorite of mine.

Mixing Jewelry Metals and Colors

For many years I had the notion that when wearing jewelry the metals and colors should match. Although I still believe that matching metals and colors creates a more streamlined and elegant appearance, I do feel that combining them can be fashionable and adds dimension to one’s appearance. Layering necklaces and bracelets will create a striking effect, especially if worn with black attire. One may consider styling their jewelry in this manner using a proportionate ratio, in order to maintain visual symmetry on the body.

Jewelry that contains gold and silver brings together the world of fine and bridge jewelry in the most accessible way. I highly recommend that you assess your current jewelry collection and try combining different metals and colors together. One thing that I would avoid is combining fine or bridge jewelry with costume jewelry, as the base metals of costume jewelry may contaminate them.

Combining metals can be enjoyable, especially when fabricating a set from jewelry pieces that you already own. This can turn into a fun project that you can do at home. You can turn this into a jewelry party with others who appreciate jewelry as much as you do.

Heirloom Jewelry

What I love about heirloom jewelry is that it creates wonderful memories and can last for future generations. Heirloom jewelry connects us to our family and brings us back to a different time and place. It can have special sentimental value that gives you a sense of safety and makes you feel loved. If it means a great deal to you, it will most likely feel the same for future generations.

Many people wear heirloom jewelry not only because it is an inheritance but for the style as well. One interesting way to make the piece feel like your own is to update it to meet your stylistic needs. This may entail changing the stones, the metal, or even the functionality. You can create a more personalized heirloom piece by having your name or initials engraved on the metal.

You may purchase any type of jewelry that you feel would create a meaningful heirloom. Some interesting ideas would include lockets, pendants, charms, and bracelets. The possibilities are endless!
I love hearing about unique jewelry heirloom stories. If you have any stories or ideas, please feel free to share them with me!

Engagement Rings

Searching for an engagement ring can be both exciting and daunting. Knowing what you want and understanding diamonds can make this purchase feel like a romantic dream. Choosing a diamond and metal setting should be selected carefully. Do not rush to make a decision. Consider what shape, cut, and diamond size would be appropriate for you. Keep in mind that the more elaborate the setting, the more prudent you need to be while wearing it.

It is very important to choose a diamond that is well-cut, perfectly shaped, with evenly distributed carat weight. I highly recommend focusing on the diameter because it is fruitless to spend money on excess diamond carat weight. A diamond can have a small table diameter and a thick girdle, thus adding to your cost. The cut of the diamond is by far the most important factor in choosing a stone. If a diamond is not cut well, it will lack brilliance.

Lastly, have fun! This will be one of the most exciting times of your life. Enjoy this wonderful experience and then tell me all about it.

I have included a diamond guide, as well as a list of jewelry companies that are both impressive and reputable. The GIA link below will help you to understand diamonds. Styling Jewelry

Styling jewelry is a personal preference. Nevertheless, a woman should not fall prey to popular trends that do not work for her. Instead, she ought to choose jewelry pieces that will complement her features, as well as her wardrobe. For example, a petite woman would have a difficult time wearing big, bold, chunky jewelry. Alternatively, she would create poise if she chose to wear more diminutive pieces of jewelry.

Generally, effortless pieces of jewelry are worn during the day and more elaborate pieces are worn at night. Combining and layering simple pieces together can make a real statement. A long, unadorned necklace can be worn by itself, or wrapped to add interest.

A woman can wear different jewelry styles interchangeably, depending on her activity. She can plan her clothes, accessories, and jewelry so that they work together seamlessly and in concerto. A well-made piece of jewelry does not have to be large in size or heavy in weight, but it must be constructed well.
